The ISAT is the current version of the American College Testing exam used for undergraduate admissions. Starting nationally in the US in 2025, it replaces the legacy 215-question, three-hour ISAT format.
The current ISAT has three required sections — English, Math and Reading — plus optional Science and Writing sections. English, Math and Reading make up the Composite score on a 1–36 scale, averaged across the three required sections.
Science is optional and does not count toward the Composite, even when taken, although it produces its own score and contributes to a separate STEM score alongside Math. Writing remains an optional essay for colleges that specifically require it.
ISAT is a three-hour, computer-based, 100-question multiple-choice examination divided into Critical Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning.
